Northumberland’s Northgate Hospital decided it was ready for an enlightening makeover and headed straight to Designplan, who provided nine different types of fittings across the entire building.
For the mental health units the hospital required similar to those used in prisons, but with a more domestic and less intimidating feel. The fittings also needed to be vandal resistant and anti-ligature for the safety and protection of both staff and patients.
CAD 21, the consultants who designed the building services for the project, selected a range of Designplan’s luminaries including 43 RDL Anti-lig fittings for day rooms, en-suites and TV lounges. Pantheons were also selected for the external areas, such as the courtyard, and T5 Monitors were installed in the kitchens.
Electrical engineer Darren McGurk said: ‘It was a difficult task to create an aesthetically pleasing environment with a domestic feel that met the client’s requirements of anti-ligature and anti-vandal.’
‘We were able to achieve this using Designplan’s range of products.’
