Illuminating social housing (part 5)- Haynes Park Court

Caragh BarryNews UK

A recent example of Designplan’s work in the social housing sector is Haynes Park Court in Romford, Essex. The existing poor lighting there created a safety concern for the residents with dark stairwells and bleak corridors, so Designplan set out to improve this, as well as upgrading the environment and reduce the amount of electricity consumed.

Our solution incorporated microwave presence detectors with Radio Frequency (RF) Wireless Transmission controls in our QuadEvo luminaire (see part 4).  This helped to reduce electricity consumption by circa 60% as they use less than half the power of the luminaires they replaced.  QuadEvo’s 104lm/W light output also ensured a brighter, more inviting environment for residents.
