Our former apprentice, and now Technical Supervisor, Jamie Pickett has been recognised in two categories at the prestigious SATRO STEMX awards on the 28th September in Woking. The SATRO STEMX awards celebrate the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths to the UK economy through the achievements of apprentices.
Jamie was recognised in two categories. First he was highly commended in the Apprentice Individual Achievement category. Later in the evening he won the “Apprentice Contribution to Business Award” taking home the impressive Wates Cup (see picture).
Commenting on Jamie’s achievement our Production Support Engineer Terry Frenchum said:
“We’re all delighted that Jamie’s hard work and dedication have been recognised in this way. Jamie was the first apprentice to be employed by Designplan and from day one he has exhibited a high level of interest and motivation. He has created a good reputation for himself, whilst working through various departments within the business, through an enthusiastic and dedicated approach to his work, internal training and his college based learning. Jamie’s knowledge, confidence and maturity have developed to the extent that he has represented the business on secondments to other Group companies. These awards are thoroughly deserved.”
Speaking about the award ceremony itself Jamie said:
“I didn’t expect to win an award and was really shocked when my name was called not once but twice.
Congratulations Jamie from everyone here at Designplan.
