The power to transform
Renewing entire stations is an incredibly costly exercise. Refurbishment is a major tool in helping improve the customer station experience. This is an area where rail lighting has the power to transform.
Since 1963 Designplan have been designing and manufacturing luminaires in the London Borough of Sutton to meet the specific needs of specialist market sectors where robust and durable lighting products are essential.

Designplan and the 4Cs challenge
Capacity
Carbon
Customer
Cost
The rail industry has its own unique applications and challenges and our Rail lighting brochure examines some of those applications in detail.
The lighting ideas and solutions suggested are anchored on the rail industry’s 4Cs roadmap, neatly summarised as “How can we improve our customer experience whilst increasing capacity on the network and at the same time reducing both our carbon footprint and the cost of running the railway”? Whilst lighting cannot, of course, be seen in isolation, we believe that it has a particularly significant part to play in helping the rail industry progress on the 4Cs challenge.
