How we test our products


Product testing is a vital element in the design of our luminaires. We continually upgrade and improve our test laboratory. Our constant investment helps us to innovate our lighting solutions both in terms of performance and environmental impact. We are proud to have our own in-house testing facility. Our facilities include:

Life test: Products are left in a room to see how light output and components will perform over time.

IP (Ingress Protection) test: A luminaire will pass the Ingress Protection test if no water is found within the fitting after it has been sprayed with water from a high-pressure nozzle. We test in this way to IPX5 and IPX6. We then test for higher levels of ingress protection in our water tank. The water tank is used to get IP ratings of IPX7 and IPX8. Fittings are submerged into the water tank and if no water is found within the luminaire after the test has been completed, then it passes.

IK test: Using a pendulum hammer, we measure much impact a product can resist. A fitting will pass the test if there is no access to live parts once the test has been completed.

Photometric test: This test measures the light output and light distribution of a luminaire.

Salt spray test: A salty environment is created in the cabinet and we test to see how our paints will perform over a long period of time.

Glow wire test: This is performed to ensure customer safety in the unlikely event of an electrical malfunction. The material is placed in contact with a heated wire. To pass the test, any flame or molten droplets must self extinguish within 30 seconds of the heated wire being removed.

LED compatibility test: To make sure the materials we use do not release chemicals which could damage the LEDs, we carry out a compatibility test.

Temperature test: This ensures our products are safe even at temperatures of up to 40°C and 50°C.
