As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable lighting manufacturing, we are pleased to announce the installation of our new laser cutting machine, supplied by LVD UK Ltd. Delivered in May, the system is now fully operational following installation and comprehensive operator training from LVD UK’s Laser.

This latest investment strengthens our UK-based lighting manufacturing capabilities, enabling us to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support more environmentally responsible production processes.

Driving Sustainability in Lighting Manufacturing

Sustainability is a key priority for us as a lighting manufacturer, and this new laser cutting technology allows us to take a significant step forward.

Compared to traditional punch press methods, laser cutting enables far more efficient use of sheet metal. By removing the need for a clamp strip and allowing components to be nested closer together, we can maximise material usage and significantly reduce waste.

This improvement directly supports our goal of delivering sustainable lighting solutions, ensuring that our products are not only high quality but also manufactured with reduced environmental impact. By optimising how we use raw materials, we are making meaningful progress in reducing waste across our production processes.

Improving Lead Times for Lighting Projects

In the past, laser-cut components were subcontracted, which added time and reduced flexibility within our workflow.

Bringing laser cutting in-house gives us greater control over production and enables us to respond more quickly to customer requirements. For our clients, this means shorter lead times on lighting projects, improved reliability, and a more responsive manufacturing process, particularly important for complex or time-sensitive applications.

As Lorraine, Production Engineering Manager, explains:
“Bringing laser cutting in-house gives us much greater control. It allows us to respond more quickly to customer requirements and significantly improve our turnaround times.”

Enabling Innovation in Lighting Design

The introduction of advanced laser cutting technology also enhances our ability to innovate as a design-led lighting manufacturer.

With improved precision and flexibility, our design and engineering teams can develop more complex geometries, refine existing products, and explore new ideas. This supports the ongoing evolution of our product range, including specialist solutions such as ligature resistant lighting and other high-performance applications.

By investing in the right technology, we are ensuring that we remain at the forefront of lighting design, engineering, and manufacturing innovation.

“The flexibility of the new laser is already opening up new possibilities for our design team,” Lorraine adds. “It allows us to approach product development in a much more dynamic way.”

Partnering with LVD UK Ltd

We are proud to have worked with LVD UK Ltd on this project. Their expertise throughout installation and operator training ensured a smooth transition and enabled our team to quickly integrate this new capability into our production process.

Supporting the Future of Sustainable Lighting

This investment in laser cutting technology represents an important milestone in our journey as a sustainable lighting manufacturer in the UK. By improving material efficiency, increasing flexibility, and enabling innovation, we are better equipped to deliver high-quality, sustainable lighting solutions to our customers.

As we continue to invest in our manufacturing capabilities, our focus remains on reducing environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of performance and design.
