Abergavenny Station vandal resistant lighting

  • As part of Network Rail’s Access for All programme, Abergavenny Station underwent a significant accessibility upgrade, including the installation of a new footbridge, a project in which Designplan Lighting played a key role.

Known as the Beacon Bridge, the design was led by Arcadis Consulting in collaboration with Davies Maguire. A defining feature of the bridge is its two lift shafts, shaped to resemble beacons, a bold visual cue enhancing safety, visibility, and station identity.

Designplan supplied Mission CMS luminaires, purpose-built for railway station lighting and vandal resistant environments. Installed along the stairs and upper walkway, these luminaires also support integrated cabling for CCTV and PA speakers, offering an efficient, multi-functional solution.

Managed via our CMS lighting system, the simple and seamless installation of our CMS lighting system delivered a secure , user-friendly, and energy efficient environment for all passengers. This project highlights our commitment to durable, vandal resistant lighting for the transport sector.

Our sales, technical, and project teams collaborated closely with the consultant, contractor, and installers to ensure the success of every stage, from specification to final installation.
