  • Designplan is proud to have partnered with Emeg Ltd and D&B Contractors to supply a range of luminaires for Whitley Bay Station. This historic site serves as a vital link on the Tyne and Wear Metro network. Our team worked diligently to provide a lighting solution that respects the station’s heritage. We focused on enhancing the beautiful Victorian architecture while meeting modern safety standards. Designed for optimal light distribution and enhanced public safety, our lighting solutions were used across multiple areas of the station.

Our Stromma luminaire was the primary choice at Whitley Bay Station, these luminaires provide clear, bright illumination across the platforms and walkways. Our engineers designed these products to withstand the harsh coastal environment. They feature high-quality materials that resist corrosion and impact. This ensures a long-lasting and reliable lighting system for the local community.

The new LED installation significantly reduces energy consumption compared to the old system. This helps the network meet its sustainability targets. Our luminaires also improve visibility for passengers during dark winter evenings. This makes the station feel much safer and more accessible. We are thrilled to see this landmark return to its former glory. This project highlights our ability to blend traditional aesthetics with cutting-edge British engineering. We remain dedicated to improving the passenger experience across the UK’s rail infrastructure.
