HMP Addiewell is a purpose built prison housing all prisoner types, except females and young offenders. The facility is designed as a “learning” prison. Offenders can address their behaviour and the circumstances leading to their imprisonment. The aim is to improve their wellbeing and employment prospects to help reduce re-offending.
To help provide the right environment for rehabilitation, we designed a lighting solution that met all standards and regulations, whilst ensuring a clean, bright environment to encourage learning. In total over 4,500 luminaires were specified for the cells, en-suite areas, landings, corridors, communal areas, control rooms, main reception, gymnasium and various external applications.
