According to the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), embodied carbon refers to the “greenhouse gas emissions generated during the manufacturing , transportation, and disposal of materials used in a product.”

TM65.2 and TM66 are Technical Memoranda published by CIBSE to promote sustainability in the lighting industry.

TM65.2: Embodied Carbon in Building Services – Lighting

TM65.2 provides a methodology for calculating the embodied carbon in lighting products.

This guidance enables lighting designers, specifiers, engineers, and manufacturers to assess and compare the carbon footprint of lighting equipment, facilitating more informed decisions to reduce environmental impact.

TM66: Creating a Circular Economy in the Lighting Industry

TM66 offers a framework for adopting circular economy principles within the lighting sector. A circular economy aims to minimise waste and make the most of resources by designing products for longevity, repairability, and recyclability.

TM66 provides practical guidance and assessment methods to help manufacturers and specifiers develop and evaluate lighting products that align with these principles, promoting sustainability throughout the product lifecycle.

Our Product Sustainability Report

Upon request, we can provide a Product Sustainability Report for each luminaire variant, which will include:

  • TM65.2 assessment score indicating the embodied carbon (kg CO2e).
  • TM66 circular economy assessment score.
  • Luminaire efficiency (lm/W).
  • Estimated product lifespan.
  • Sustainable manufacturing details (BREEAM compliance).
  • Fagerhult Group’s Net Zero commitments.
  • Circularity and recyclability data.
  • Information on compatible lighting control systems.
