Humidity Cabinet tests are carried out to ensure our products are able to operate in humid conditions which may occur in normal use.

The luminaire is placed in the most unfavourable position of normal use in our humidity cabinet. The relative humidity is maintained between 91% and 95%. The temperature inside the cabinet is maintained within 1°C of any temperature between 20°C and 30°C.
Before being placed in the humidity cabinet the luminaire is brought up to the cabinet temperature. This is achieved by keeping it in a heated room for at least 4 hours before the humidity test.
Cable entries, if any, are left open and if knock-outs are provided, one of them is opened up.
The sample is kept in the cabinet for the 48 hour duration of test.
After 48 hours the sample is removed from the cabinet, checked for any damage and then immediately subjected to the insulation resistance, electric strength , touch current and protective conductor current tests, as described in Section 10 of BS EN 60598-1.
